Training

In order to be considered a trained adult Scouter and wear the BSA “Trained” patch on your uniform, there are a number of “position-specific” (role-based) courses that you will need to complete.

Most training courses are available both online and in-person. Campo De Cahuenga District’s in-person training schedule is on our events calendar, which can be accessed by clicking on the”events” button above. Note that all leaders are required to complete Youth Protection Training (YPT) every two years.

Online training is available at my.scouting.org. If you have your BSA Membership ID Number you may open an account and your online training will automatically update into your ScoutNet (national database) record. ID numbers are located on your unit’s roster, your BSA Membership ID card, or you can call the Council office at (818) 785-8700 and ask them what your ID number is. If you don’t yet have your BSA Membership ID Number you can still take the training online by selecting “New to My Scouting,” selecting “WLACC – Van Nuys #051” as the Council and leaving the Member ID space blank. After you complete the online course, please print the Certificate of Completion and then fax to (818) 901-4888, scan and e-mail, or deliver it to the Council office at 16525 Sherman Way, Unit C-8 Van Nuys, CA 91406.
